First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of opportunity to address you since I took office as President of AAVSET late last year. I would like to offer a brief greeting and a request for your support.

The COVID-19 disaster, which began last year, has greatly restricted our activities, and I fear that our activities will stagnate. Therefore, I have two suggestions to solidify the identity of the AASVET organization.

The first suggestion is for members to use the website to share information on a daily basis, including a brief history of AASVET posted on the website. As you know, AASVET has been in existence for almost 15 years now. We would like to share a brief history as a foundation for our organization and for further development in the future.

The second proposal is to revitalize the journal. As you know, the most important event of our society, the conference, cannot be held in a face-to-face format. Now that there is no prospect of holding the conference in a single venue, journals will be more important than ever. Therefore, in order to revitalize the journal, I would like to establish an editorial committee consisting of editorial board members from each country. The specific task of the Editorial Board is to actively solicit paper submissions. In other words, the editorial board members will encourage and support members in their countries to submit papers to the journal. In addition, the editorial board selects and requests appropriate reviewers to review the submitted papers. The editorial board consists of members from different countries. Editorial board meetings are actively conducted online and via email. In order to quickly establish the editorial board structure, the first member of the editorial board will be appointed by the president. I would like to ask for the understanding and support of all Board members.

Let’s overcome the crisis caused by COVID-19 and further develop AASVET.
